September 14th: Ishgard’s people have long been at war with man-eating dragons, and thus have not taken on Adventurers. In this city, there are already several quests appearing for the “Dragon Slayers” [faction?] who are at war with the dragons.

Final Fantasy XIV is an MMORPG by Square Enix and will be released simultaneously in all regions. Like Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. The game takes place in a land called Hydaelyn, mainly in a region named Eorzea, which has an aesthetic blend of sci-fi and classic fantasy elements.
Final Fantasy XIV, also known as Final Fantasy Online, FFXIV, and FF14, is the fourteenth installment in the Final Fantasy series. There are more than 14 titles under the name Final Fantasy; This MMO is due out for release at the end of September for Microsoft Windows. It was intended to have a simultaneous Playstation 3 release; however, the PS3 version has since been delayed until March of 2011.
In recent history, it was confirmed that closed alpha testing began on March 11, 2010 at VanaFest 2010, an event to commemorate the eighth year of Final Fantasy XI. When Final Fantasy XIV entered into its Alpha testing stage, players from different parts of the world were logging on at different times and testing what the development team at Square Enix created. Square Enix had said that about ten percent of the game was actually available for play within the Alpha test stage.
More recently, the Alpha testing has been completed. The Windows PC Beta testing was announced, via the newly established official Twitter account, to begin on July 10, 2010.

Benchmark Software
This benchmark software uses actual maps and characters to assign a score to your PC and rate its performance so you are prepared ahead of time. You cannot play Final Fantasy 14 with this, it is only to check your system requirements; it is still interesting. The software took a little while to download but nowhere near the length of a full installation at only 173mb. The choice was available to download it from Nvidia or Square-Enix. After downloading the file a simple installation process follows; it specifies Windows XP, Vista, or 7 in the requirements. For more information, and to download it, visit the official benchmark software page.
